Why make a difference?
22 million kgs of plastic enters our ocean every day. That's one truckload every minute. It's increasing.
Yet up to 80% of the world's ocean plastic comes from a lack of waste management infrastructure in coastal communities around the world.
The Ride Coromandel Bike Park is built on what was a previous gold and silver mine, and then in 1985 the site was converted to a landfill. It is estimated to contain over 10,000m3 of refuse.
In 2015 the site was capped (sealed) and the Bike Park descent trails were built in December of 2020.
It seems only fitting that the more waste we can reduce by purchasing these social plastic bottles the less landfills we create for the future and we begin to save our oceans.
